MSU Camp Summary
I wanted to share some thoughts with everyone about the MSU camp. The competition at camp was fierce with 2 state champion teams and a state runner-up team in attendance. My initial thoughts and impressions about our players’ performance were so positive that I thought I better watch film to make sure they were well founded. After having some time to review film I’m still extremely happy with the way our team played. Going into camp we decided our players would play offense or defense in order to apply their full attention to one position. Although this left us very thin in some positions I believe this allowed our team to achieve at a higher level. We are still not ready to be a true two platoon team but we are getting close.
I want to give special recognition to the five offensive linemen that played every single play in camp. Alex Givens, Riley Shantz, Connor Menown, Logan Bauer, and David Randall were true warriors. I also want to recognize Kinjo Omar for being named the Defensive Lineman MVP of the camp. The most exciting thing for me was the fact that Coach Allen, head coach at MSU, commented to me more than once that our team’s attitude and the way our players conducted themselves was outstanding. We certainly have a long way to go before the beginning of the season but we are on the right track and we have a group of young men that are committed to having a good season. Please encourage your son to attend summer fitness class from 8:00 am to 11:00 am Monday through Friday. It will take dedication from every single member of the team for us to reach our goal of winning a District Championship in 2010.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
