Falcons’ Season Comes to an End

Our Falcons visited the Nixa Eagles tonight, and lost 7-35.  Nixa had already wrapped up 2nd place in the District (Ozark finishes in 1st place, for a second consecutive season, in our district), so this game had no bearing on Nixa’s positioning.  They will play the winner of the Raytown-Raytown South (KC area schools) next Wednesday night.

After 2 consecutive wins by our Falcons, we came into Nixa with big hopes of adding a 3rd straight victory.  Despite being able to move the ball against a stout Nixa defense, turnovers would hurt us, and it would basically be all Nixa on this night.  The Eagles built up a 0-21 lead by halftime, added another touchdown in the 3rd quarter to take a 0-28 lead, then with 4 minutes left in the game, Trevor Vaughn scampered into the end zone for our Falcons first and only score of the game.  Nixa tacked on a late touchdown, for the final 7-35 score.

We want to thank Coach Heman, all the assistant coaches, and of course all the Falcon football players for their hard work and for weathering a tough season, while still giving us fans a lot to cheer about along the way.  Don’t forget about the football banquet coming up on Tuesday November 17th – then, get rested up and ready for an awesome season of Falcon football in August of 2010 – GO FALCONS!!!
