FALCONS WIN!!!

Our Falcons pulled out the first victory of the season, with a 35-34 win over the Parkview Vikings!  It was a home game, and Homecoming night for our Falcons, as we posted that elusive first win of the season.

It was another night of firsts for our Falcons – a lead at half time (14-7), breaking the 20 point barrier (35 points scored), leading by double digits (up 21-7 at one point in the second half), and of course the important first, the victory!  Neither Parkview nor Glendale could muster a lot of defense tonight, as both offenses moved the ball up-and-down the field.  Our Falcons opened the game strong, moving the ball to Parkview’s 5 yard line before a fumble would end the drive.  Parkview would end marching back down the field, to score first in the game, and take a 7-0 lead.  We would answer with our own touchdown, but a blocked PAT left us trailing 6-7.  Our Falcons would tack on a second quarter touchdown, coupled with a successful 2-point conversion, to take a 14-7 lead.  We also had an opportunity to go up 21-7 at the half, after Tommy Young picked off a Parkview pass, and returned it into Parkview territory.  But there just wasn’t enough time left in the half, as yet another drive deep into Parkview territory, would end at the 3-yard line as first half time expired.

Our Falcons would score first in the second half, to take a 21-7 lead, and it looked like we were poised to run away with the game.  However, Parkview was not finished, and would answer with 2 touchdowns to knot the game at 21.  From there, we traded touchdowns the rest of the way, with the game coming down to Parkview scoring late in the game, to seemingly tie the game at 35.  But with 1 minute 39 seconds left in the game, Parkview’s kicker would push the PAT wide right, preserving a 1 point victory for our Falcons!

Next week, we have a week off from district play (we are now 1-2 in District 7 play), as we travel to KC East to take on the Bears.  So come make the trip up to KC, and cheer on our Falcons to their second straight victory – GO FALCONS!!!
