Falcons’ Home Opener Spoiled by the Eagles
Our Falcons opened the season Friday night by hosting the Joplin Eagles, but we were soundly defeated 14-45. The Eagles set the tone early by completing a bomb pass down the middle of the field to set up their first touchdown within the first 2 minutes of the game. They added another touchdown to take a 0-14 lead, before Sophomore Trevor Vaughn picked off an Eagles’ pass and returned it 79 yards for the Falcons only score of the first half. Joplin’s defense dominated throughout that first half, holding Glendale to only 4 yards of offense, while the Eagles offense rolled over Glendale with its running attack, en route to a 7-27 halftime lead.
The second half did see our Falcons show some glimpses of offensive hope (our Falcons ended with 125 yards of total offense, 54 of those coming on a Trevor Vaughn run for the Falcons other TD), and the defense managed a couple of stops which couldn’t be mustered in the first half, but the bigger Eagles (whose team features some Division 1 football recruits) cruised to the final score of 14-45.
Come back to Lowe Stadium next Friday September 4th and cheer on your Falcons, as the Rolla Bulldogs come into town after an impressive 37-0 season-opening win over the Willard Tigers - GO FALCONS!!!

Go Falcons. As a long time Falcon Fan I just wanted to note a couple of things that I observed Friday. The ticket line. We really need to do something about this. If we stood in line at another school and missed the entire first quarter we would probably be upset. Get this guy some help. The field. Since we are somewhat undersized this year and speed is our biggest asset, then why were we playing in grass that is 10 inches deep. I couldn’t even see the players shoe tops. Could somebody please mow the field before Friday.
Go Falcons!
