Announcements from Coach Heman

Glendale Football Parents,Please find on the Website the updated summer schedule and the forms we need completed for MSU Team Camp and Summer Fitness Classes.  There are also two flyers from St. John’s outlining a couple of programs they are offering.  See on the Website, the new link for “Forms” on the right panel of available categories.  This is where we will make forms available from this point forward.

I will need the $50 deposit for MSU Team Camp by May 20th so I can get it to them by May 22nd.  We need all players that will be in grades 10, 11, and 12 next fall to attend the MSU Team Camp.  If for some reason your son cannot attend please let me know.  Be sure to check Team Camp II, June 10th-12th on the form.  There are camp scholarships available based on financial need.

Summer Fitness classes will be from 7:30 am to 10:30 am Monday - Friday beginning June 8th. MSU Team Camp will count as Summer Fitness class on June 10th-12th.  If your son plays basketball he should enroll in the basketball class in June and the football class in July.  Return the enrollment forms to me.  I will send them to the summer school office.

St. John’s is offering a speed and agility program for Glendale Football Players.  The program is the same time as Summer Fitness on Monday and Wednesday.  However, please be aware that if your son participates in the St. John’s program it will NOT count as part of Summer Fitness class on those days.  The cost is $90 for 12 sessions.  There are scholarships available based on financial need.

The following is an announcement from Jon Ewing:

A new MSHSAA By-Law will take effect this summer.  In order to be eligible to participate in MSHSAA-sponsored activities, Glendale students must pass 3.5 units of credit the previous semester they participate and be currently enrolled in 3.5 units of credit the semester of participation.  The old rule required 3.0 units of credit.  The new rule takes effect July, 2009, so all Glendale students returning next year, who plan on participating in any MSHSAA-sponsored activities this fall, must pass 3.5 units of credit the semester we are in right now.  If your son failed a 3rd quarter class, or if he fails a 4th quarter class, you need to contact his counselor ASAP to see what can be done to recover those credits.

Please email Coach Heman or call him at 766-0999 if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Joel Heman
