Turnovers Cost Falcons a Play-off Victory
Our Falcons hosted the Lebanon Yellowjackets, at JFK stadium, in a round 1 district playoff game, but lost 10-35. The Yellowjackets will move on to play the class 5 #1 ranked Raymore-Peculiar Panthers, in Raymore, MO next Monday night.
Our Falcons played a tight first half. Lebanon scored first to take a 0-7 lead. We would answer with a field goal, to cut the lead to 3-7. The Yellowjackets would add another touchdown, to take a 3-14 lead into halftime. But we would get the ball first to start the second half, so we seemed poised to stay right in the game. But with several second half turnovers, and a touchdown run called back on a questionable “out-of-bounds” ruling, our Falcons just could not make a run at the game.
Regardless of the outcome tonight, we are very proud of 1st-year head coach Joel Heman, his coaching staff, and our Falcon sons. Considering we started the season at 0-5 while sustaining a host of injuries, then finished 4-7, including a 3rd consecutive playoff appearance, the season will be regarded as a great success! Congratulations Falcons, and we look forward to a 2009 campaign – GO FALCONS!!!
