Falcons Crush Eagles

Our Falcons hosted the Nixa Eagles for a final regular season game, with the winner being runner-up to Ozark in Class 5 District 7, and going on to the state playoffs – the loser goes home.  Our Falcons, using a big 2nd half push, beat the Eagles 33-7.  It was a difficult night to be a spectator, since the JFK scoreboard had suffered a lightning strike, and was not operational – so from the stands we could not tell the game time, play clock, etc.; nevertheless, the game pressed on (later, late in the 3rd quarter, the scoreboard did come back on)!

Our Falcons scored the first touchdown, but a bad snap would lead to a failed PAT, giving us a 6-0 lead.  The Eagles would answer with their own touchdown drive, to take a 7-6 lead.  And that score would hold up through half-time, as both defenses tightened up.

But the second half was a different story.  Our Falcons took the opening 2nd half kick-off, and marched down the field to score another touchdown.  A failed 2-point conversion left our Falcons with 12-7 lead.  From there our Falcons would hold the Eagles scoreless en route to scoring 3 more touchdowns, for the final 33-7 score.

Now that our Falcons have extended their season, we will next take on the District 6 runner-up Lebanon Yellowjackets (who lost to Waynesville tonight, 14-21 – Waynesville is the District 6 champion).  We will host the Yellowjackets at JFK stadium, on Wednesday November 5th, at 7:00pm.  It will be a rematch of week 5, when we visited Lebanon and lost 17-35 – this time, with an offense firing on all cylinders, and a stiff defense, we will defeat the Yellowjackets.  Come out Wednesday night and cheer on our Falcons to a round 1 playoff victory – GO FALCONS!!!
