Turnovers Steal a Falcons Victory
Our Glendale Falcons traveled to Lebanon Friday night, to take on the Yellowjackets. Unfortunately, the Yellowjackets celebrated a homecoming victory, as our Falcons lost by the final score of 17-35.
We scored first to take a 7-0 lead, the first lead our Falcons have enjoyed through 4 games this season. And our Falcons’ offense was able to move the ball up-and-down the field well against the Lebanon defense – the most offense we have seen since the second half of game one at Joplin. But (unofficially) 5 turnovers will always prove difficult to overcome, and despite racking up a lot of offensive yardage, we just could not finish several good drives. After a fumbled punt deep in our territory, allowed for an easy touchdown for Lebabnon at the end of the first half, we trailed 10-21 at halftime. We had several opportunities to narrow the scoring gap in the second half, but with more turnovers, plus throw in one huge pass play by SW MO’s leading passer (Lebanon’s QB), you end up with the final 17-35 score.
Our Falcons return home next Friday, September 26th, to host the defending Missouri Class 5 state champs – the Waynesville Tigers. So come out and cheer on our Falcons to a big win over the visiting Tigers – GO FALCONS!!!
