A Tale of Two Halves
Our Glendale Falcons lost at the Joplin Eagles Friday night, 28-35. We opened the game by trading touchdowns, with each team taking its opening drive in for a touchdown - Joplin first then Glendale, for an early 7-7 tie. But Joplin rolled off 3 more touchdowns to build up a 7-28 lead at halftime.
It must have been some kind of halftime pep talk, because when our Falcons took the field in the 2nd half, we rolled off 3 straight touchdowns to tie the game at 28-28 by early in the 4th quarter! Joplin would end up scoring their 5th touchdown of the game, with less than 2 minutes left. Our Falcons were still not ready to roll over yet, as they marched up the field, and with under a minute left in the game, they were just over the midfield stripe looking poised to score another tying touchdown. But a fumble, recovered by Joplin, would end hopes of sending the game into overtime.
Our Falcons showed some real heart in this season opening game, with the offense and defense really coming to life in the second half. We will be ready for our first victory of the season when we travel the opposite way down I-44 to visit the Rolla Bulldogs on Friday September 5th - so come on down to Rolla and support your favorite Falcons - GO FALCONS!!!
