Heads up Falcons – Final Loss Was to State Champs!
Ray-Pec has beaten St. Louis Kirkwood to claim their 3rd straight Missouri Class 5A State Championship, by the score of 42-32. Ray-Pec built up a 35-14 lead early in the 2nd half of the game, only to see Kirkwood come back to get within 3 points late in the game, at 35-32. But the Ray-Pec defense came up with an important late game stop, then Mizzou-bound Derrick Washington returned a punt for a touchdown at the 2-minute mark of the game (which was his 5th touchdown of the game – a new state title game record).
So Falcons, despite the fact we know that we could have been playing in that title game this year, take some solace knowing we honestly played Ray-Pec the closest game of their 3-game title march. Undoubtedly, we held them to their lowest points production, as their wins were:
- 28-14 over Glendale
- 38-20 over Park Hill
- 42-32 over Kirkwood
Everybody else had better look out for our Falcons next year – GO FALCONS!!!
