Glendale Crushes Lebanon
It was a dark and stormy night…but our Falcons traveled to Lebanon for game #2 in their continuing quest for a District 5 championship. The rain stopped, the stars came out, and Glendale poured it on as they rolled to a 34-7 victory over the Lebanon Yellowjackets!
This is what everyone would have to agree is finally the game we have been expecting from our Falcons all season. We played 4 great quarters of football, and despite 2 turnovers and surrendering a huge pass play that netted the Yellowjackets their only score of the game, our Falcons led 21-7 at the half (14-0 at the end of the first quarter, and 21-0 with only seconds left in the half).
We got the ball first in the second half, and drove down for another touchdown to make the score 28-7. A touchdown (with a missed extra point) later in the 4th quarter, yielded the final score of 34-7 - the Yellowjackets could not do a thing against our defense (other than that one big pass play), and our offense could not be stopped.
Our Falcons are now riding a 3 game winning streak at 4-5, 2-0 in District 5, and on a collision course with arch nemesis Kickapoo next Friday night. The Chiefs managed to hang on to a home victory Friday night over Parkview 26-16, and they too are 2-0 in District 5 (a narrow home victory last Friday night over Lebanon, 16-14, on 3 field goals and 1 touchdown).
So…here we are, last game of the season, last game of District 5 play, and the season is at stake - winner takes all, and moves on to start state playoffs. It is time for our Falcons to finish what they started this season, and win the District. Kickapoo has had an off year (at 3-6, 2 wins in-a-row), but they will be ready to play Friday night - Glendale versus Kickapoo is always the biggest game of the year. Guess what our Falcons need - for you to be at the game Friday night! We need to bring all the spirit we can muster, get as loud and rowdy as we have ever been, and cheer our Falcons on to a huge victory over the Kickapoo Chiefs - see you Friday night - GO FALCONS!!!
