Freshman & JV Split Games Against Joplin

The Falcons JV team hosted the Joplin Eagles at Lowe stadium Monday night, and absolutely dominated in every phase of the game.  Our Falcons won 36-0.  Great game, JV!

The Falcons Freshman team traveled to Joplin Monday night, and lost 8-28.  Our team continues to play with a depleted staff, and they suffered further injuries in Joplin.  Hang in there guys – keep up the hard work!

The following JV game summary was submitted by John Reynolds:

Glendale set the pace this week to start the game with a halfback pass and run from Tim Swan to JR Reynolds of 70 yards to the Joplin 5-yard line and Fullback Micah Smith finished the last yards off with a run up the middle to make it 6-0 Falcons JR Reynolds made the extra point to make it 7-0 not two minutes into the game. The Falcons defense once again matched the offense energy with a couple of forth down and short stops to keep Joplin scoreless in the 1st quarter to start the 2nd with a 7-0 lead.

The Falcons defense was strong and again held Joplin scoreless in the 2nd with strong upfront pressure that forced an interception by JR Reynolds late in the 2nd. The offense continued to mix and grind it out on the ground with runs from Tim Swan, Micah Smith, Alex Sanders and Kevin Redmon. Kevin Redmon then caught the Eagles playing the rush and hits Alex Sanders with a 35-yard toss to the 4-yard line. Micah Smith up the middle made it Falcons 13-0, and JR Reynolds connected with the extra point to end the first half 14-0 Falcons.

Joplin started out very strong in the second half with long runs of 13,8,9 and 12 yards before the Falcon defense stopped the Eagles effort short causing a fumble by the Falcons front line and Ronnie Valdez scooped the ball up and takes it 60 yards for a Falcon touchdown. JR Reynolds added the extra point to make it 21-0 midway through the 3rd. The defense again ends the 3rd quarter and the Eagles momentum with an interception by Tim Swan to start the 4th.

Joe Mendel took the offense to start the 4th and led the falcons to a 27-0 lead with Tim Swan running it in on a 63-yard scamper. The extra point hit the right post and was no good by JR Reynolds. Immediately following the Falcon kick off the Eagles again were stopped cold by the Falcon Defense with strong play by Stephen Randall, Curtis Norbury and the whole front defensive line which led to a QB sack forcing a punt that sailed over the kickers head for a safety to make it 29-0 Falcons. The Falcon JV reserves finished out the game with the same defensive enthusiasm to hold the Eagles scoreless, and the reserve offense closed out the clock with a sustained drive with good running by Josh Locke, Ben White and Micah Smiths third TD and JR Reynolds extra point to end the night with a strong 36-0 win over a good Joplin Eagle program.

Congrats to the Falcon JV… Keep it up…
