Falcons Unable to Clear out the Purple Haze
We traveled to Camdenton Friday night, in hopes of breaking a 13-year-long streak of defeats at the hands of the Lakers – unfortunately, we lost 0-21.
The Falcons offense had trouble firing on all cylinders, and two turnovers set up easy scores for the Lakers. There was no score in the game until Camdenton finally mounted a drive, and scored a TD on a long pass with just around 3 minutes left in the half. Then a Falcons fumble on our next possession, recovered by Camdenton, set up a late-half Lakers touchdown with under 90 seconds left to play in the half. The only other score of the game came in the second half as Camdenton scored a touchdown set up by another Falcons fumble. Turnovers are never good, but especially against a perennial powerhouse like Camdenton, they will prove to be lethal.
The Falcons offense showed some ability to drive the ball – they just could not sustain any long drives. The defense had some great moments, making several important stops – they just were on the field way too much tonight.
Overall though, there are many positives from this game that the team can build on for next week’s contest with Hillcrest (where we will be back in familiar territory, at home in Lowe Stadium!). We may have lost this game, but many important lessons will be learned from this battle – and the team looked 100% better than in the Jamboree just one week ago.
See you next week – everyone come out for an important cross-town rivalry with the Hillcrest Hornets – as our favorite cheerleaders would chant, “come on Falcons beat the Hornets!”

The varsity line needs to work on their conditioning. Acttually everyone needs to get in better shape. I saw players coming off the field gasping for breath. I believe if you want to be the best team in the conference you have to work for it, everyday must have a practice just like a game.

I think the players are in pretty good shape actually – I didn’t really notice the fatigue. And considering they have 3 Senior starters between the offensive and defensive line that are out with injury, they are having to absorb a lot of playing time.
This was actually the best game they have played against Camdenton in a long time. The defense had a lot of big stops – if not for that, the score could have easily been 0-42 or worse! The offense had 3 turnovers that obviously stopped some drives. Preventing turnovers is where they need the most attention.
